The 5th Philharmonic Concert on February 3rd and 4th, will highlight a theme which is at the heart of life in Duisburg – water. For the second concert in the year of the European Capital of Culture, RUHR2010, which Duisburg is a part of, Jonathan Darlington has put together a concert with works by three European trotters. The Henze-Project – opening concert

At the heart of the programme for the European Capital of Culture is the “Henze-Project”, dedicated to the contemporary composer Hans Werner Henze, a native of the Ruhrgebiet. Jonathan Darlington and the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra will kick off the symphonic programme of this yearlong festival with Henzes suite from the opera “The Bassarids”. Quick Words – Wayne Marshall on the 3rd Philharmonic Concert

Just after today’s public dress rehearsal, guest soloist Wayne Marshall shared his first impressions of the Mercatorhalle’s new organ with Jonathan Darlington.The 3rd Philharmonic Concert with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra tonight and tomorrow will consist of a triptych of French masterpieces for organ and orchestra by Poulenc, Ropartz , and Saint-Saëns .
