Jonathan Darlington, Conductor
A Big Heart for “Kleine Herzen”

Jonathan Darlington has been supporting “Kleine Herzen” for more than a year now. The non-profit organization supports children living in economically disadvantaged countries.

“I am very excited about having the opportunity to give my wholehearted support to the kleine herzen organization. I can think of nothing more worthwhile than to be able to help and give to those who haven’t had the same good fortune in life as I have; especially children. What the foundation has achieved with very limited means and within such a short space of time is nothing short of miraculous. I can only admire the effort and dedication of all those involved and lend as much help and support as possible while encouraging others to do the same.”

What’s new at kleine herzen?

OPENING OF OUR ORPHANAGE IN KIEW

Our association supported in 2008 the construction of a new family home/orphanage for 10 orphans in Kiev. We succeeded to find a generous sponsor, the OFID (the OPEC Fund for International Development), who financed a large part of the construction costs. On January 4th 2009 something unbelievable happened: a serious gas explosion destroyed our family home in Kiev which was at this time almost finished. Despite this disaster, we were determined to finalise the project.

Thanks to the non-profit association H. Stepic CEE Charity and the Raiffeisen bank AVAL for their generous financial support, we managed to rebuild the house.

Today, the family home is completed and on May 6thkleine herzen and Caritas-Spes together with their main sponsors, celebrated with joy the opening of the new family home. The opening ceremony was a great success and has given us much hope and energy for our future projects. The children of our family homes/orphanages from Kiev and Zhitomir attended the opening.

You can read the minutes of the ceremony and look at some pictures on the homepage of kleine herzen.
