Why is Cherubino hiding from the count? Who’s mother does Marcellina turn out to be? And what about all those letters and cross-dressings? Confused about the twisty plot in “The Marriage of Figaro”? Vancouver Opera offers help: Check out their latest opera manga for the upcoming production of this popular Mozart opera.

The opulent traditional production, conducted by Jonathan Darlington, will premiere on April 24th featuring an All-Canadian cast of singers. Joining Daniel Okulitch (Figaro) and Nikki Einfeld (Susanna) is Rhoslyn Jones who captivated audiences last year with her emotional and heartfelt Tatyana in VO’s Eugene Onegin.

VO’s music director will join some of the events surrounding the premiere: On Thursday, April 15, 7:00 – 9:00pm, Jonathan Darlington will  explore – in word and music – the mystery behind the genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at Opera Speaks @ VPL – “What’s so great about Mozart?” at the Vancouver Public Library.
