Toronto “Nightingale” to be Aired on Saturday, Dec. 5th

There is no substitute for the real thing – watching an opera live. Canadian Opera Company’s season opener “The Nightingale and Other Short Fables” directed by Robert Lepage and conducted by Jonathan Darlington is certainly  a production for which this holds even more true. The huge joint effort put up by the orchestra, the singers, dancers, designers, puppeteers, and technicians cannot be easily captured by any medium. For at least a small impression especially of the musical side of the story, Radio Canada will air a live recording of the “Nightingale” on Dec. 5th at 1pm.

The livestream at coc.ca will be accompanied by a live chat, hosted by Gianna Wichelow and joined by Jonathan Darlington and soprano Simone Osbourne.

For more impressions and backstage glimpses see videos, interviews, reviews and excerpts on the COC website, or the platform on Radio Canada’s Espace Classique.
